About me
INTRODUCTION
Digital media has always been part of my life and remains one of my biggest passions. My main focus is on web development, brand design, user interaction, user experience, and search engine optimisation. Along the way, I’ve also gained experience in editing photos and videos, building digital presentations, and even experimenting with sound design and music.
Below is a short summary of my life, study, and career — just to give you a little insight into who I am and where it all began.
History
How it all started.
I was always fascinated by computers. I’ll never forget my Commodore 64 — experimenting with animations, simple games, and even little melodies. This was long before Google or Stack Overflow, and at the time I barely spoke English, so I had to figure things out the hard way. That challenge made it even more exciting, and I spent hours learning what was possible. My friends and I even had small “competitions” to see who could come up with the most entertaining creations.
Music career.
A few years later, the Amiga 500 arrived with even more possibilities — especially for music. Together with my cousin, I began experimenting and composing digital tracks. The Amiga’s stronger sound card made it a favourite for music makers, and before long we were sharing our tunes far and wide. Some even made their way into TV and radio commercials, and we had the chance to play at live concerts.
Career first steps.
My career has always involved some form of digital media. One of my first roles was in the PR & Communication department of a real estate company, where I was tasked with creating and delivering presentations. At first, this meant overhead sheets, but soon it evolved into digital formats with Corel Presentations.
With Corel, presentations could be customised to reflect each client’s brand more closely — using photographs, animations, logos, and colours. I enjoyed making them recognisable, engaging, and even adding sound effects or background music to hold people’s attention. With my music background, working with sound felt natural and fun.
One project that stood out was for Buena Vista, a division of Walt Disney. They had come over from the United States to explore a potential business location in the Netherlands.
My task was to transform my CEO’s sketch into a clear and appealing animated presentation. It felt like a big challenge, especially knowing Buena Vista was behind some of the world’s most recognisable media.
After the presentation and company tour, my executives told me that the visitors were impressed with the work. Not long after, Buena Vista became one of our biggest clients.
That experience confirmed for me how powerful digital media can be in shaping impressions and building trust. It was a turning point where I realised this was the direction I wanted to follow in my career.
Study
“Our faculty and students have cemented Media Design School’s reputation as New Zealand’s most awarded tertiary institute for digital and creative technology qualifications by creating work that is consistently regarded among the very best in the world”.
Because digital media was already one of my biggest passions, I decided it was time to strengthen those skills through formal study. I also wanted the challenge of doing this internationally, so I began searching for a scholarship.
Studying in English felt like the right move — not only to grow my language skills but also to learn the technical terms I’d never picked up at school. I knew this would be valuable for my future career. After some research, I found exactly what I was looking for — in New Zealand, one of the most inspiring countries I’d ever visited.
I had already travelled around New Zealand a few years earlier and loved every bit of it, so the idea of studying there felt natural. That’s when I came across Media Design School in Auckland. They already had a strong reputation in the industry and offered a focused programme in digital media.
I applied, was accepted, and after graduating, went straight into work in New Zealand. Along the way, I made friends, gained international experience, and grew both personally and professionally.
Impressions
I’ve always loved seeking out new adventures and exploring places off the beaten track. Experiencing different cultures, landscapes, and ways of thinking sparks fresh ideas and creative solutions that I bring into my digital projects, from design concepts to user experiences.
I could tell countless stories from these travels, but for now I’ll share a few impressions through photos — moments that challenged me, inspired me, and shaped the way I approach my work. If you’d like to explore more, feel free to visit my blog.
